Overview

GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Cyber/Linux Systems Engineer III in Columbus, OH to provide support to the Department of Defense in Columbus, Ohio.

Responsibilities

This position will work with the Engineering team on the Acropolis project supporting several Hadoop Clusters spread over several hundred Linux servers. The Engineer will manage and administer Linux systems utilizing RedHat Enterprise Linux, Cloudera Hadoop v5 clusters, and a host of analytics.

  • Maintains current architecture and completes weekly maintenance cycles;
  • Works with remote systems and team members to ensure availability of all systems;
  • Monitors storage system health and performance utilizing monitoring tools, troubleshooting issues as they arise;
  • Configures, installs, and maintains new deployments and patches;
  • Hardens Linux servers to meet DoD STiG requirements;

Qualifications

  • DoD issued Secret Clearance is required;
  • Must obtain and maintain a DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 or higher certification within 90 days of starting (CompTIA Security+);

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a related field plus 3 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's Degree in a related field plus 7 years of relevant experience, or 9 total years relevant experience in lieu of degree;

  • UNIX/Linux command line and shell scripting experience;

  • Experience managing software patching, system update procedures and documentation;

  • Proficiency with Operating Systems Administration and Hardware support for various types of systems;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing ability;

  • Some weekend work may be required. Will require working one evening per week for maintenance, currently on Wednesday. Schedule is flexible to accommodate maintenance activities.
