Overview

GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of  Database Administrator in Pensacola, FL to provide support to implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts performance tuning of indexes, optimization of storage functionality, and databases in general.
  • Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
  • Maintains security and integrity controls.
  • Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization.
  • Develops and implements controls for maintaining Database and Web application software standardization on HP, SUN, Dell, Intel Platform micro systems.
  • Provides Oracle Database, Microsoft (MS) Structure Query Language (SQL) Server, MS IIs, Apache, Application Server (Oracle or Java, i.e. JBOSS) software services including installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, monitoring, deployment and performance turning.
  • Applies necessary security packages to ensure compliance with all security mandates.  Scans to ensure compliance.
  • Works as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations. 
  • Reviews project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
  • May work with vendors.
Qualifications
  • DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, a physical science, or a mathematics-intensive discipline is required.
  • IAT Level II certification (GSEC, Security+ce, SSCP, or CCNA-Security) is required.
  • 6 years of industry accepted Information Technology (IT) experience is required.
  • Must have current experience demonstrating strong analytical and problem solving skills in database administration of information systems applications using commercially available database management products.  i.e. Oracle Database, Microsoft (MS) Structure Query Language (SQL) Server, MS IIs, Apache, Application Server (Oracle or Java, i.e. JBOSS)
  • Prefer, good organization skills to balance and prioritize work; Analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot system problems; Communication skills; Customer Service and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
