Overview
GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Unified Communications Engineer IV in Landover, MD to provide unified communications engineering support.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes the existing Unified Communications infrastructure and makes recommendations for enhancement;
- Engineers Unified Communications solutions to meet new requirements and enhancements to existing Unified Communications services to include identifying hardware refresh recommendations;
- Performs an AoA for periodic Unified Communications hardware refreshes following all Change Management processes;
- Creates and documents requisite network configuration;
- Designs and develops communications products and network technologies;
- Performs design, project management, acceptance testing, and vendor assessment activities;
- Communicates with internal and external groups to determine communications requirements and prepares engineering specifications to ensure functional requirements are met;
- Performs product testing and creates models and prototypes;
- Ensures the accuracy and completeness of systems documentation;
- Helps drive a consistent set of standards for equipment, network protocols, configuration, and operational procedures. Remains current on all regulatory requirements;
- Helps prepare and maintains communications systems;
- Expected duties include designing, developing, installing, and testing system equipment and implementing procedures to make all components operational;
- Primarily provides technical expertise, services and solutions revolving around various modes of communication and information transfer, internet, and broadband technologies;
- Involved across all aspects of service delivery, from carrying out feasibility exercises and determining connectivity and signal access, to preparing detailed, technical, and operational documentation.
Qualifications
- LEVEL IV: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with (8) to ten (10) years’ experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with six (6) to eight (8) years’ experience years of experience; OR PhD with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience;
- Must have a current DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level II certification (i.e., Security+ CE) at start;
- Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with SCI eligibility at start;
- Proven experience in Unified Communications Engineering is required;
- Professional-level Cisco certifications are desired;
- ITIL v4 Foundations certification is desired.
