THIS IS A PROPOSED POSITION
GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Systems Engineer in Landover, MD.

Responsibilities
  • Engineers, installs, maintains, configures and optimizes Microsoft server operating systems;
  • Manages virtual environments;
  • Provisions and manages virtual machines.  Manages and configures VDI environments;
  • Configures and maintains network services such as DNS ad DHCP;
  • Knowledge in creating, administering, and troubleshooting Group Policies (GPOs);
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups;
  • Works with internal and external IT teams to coordinate changes, implementations, and maintenances for network and security configurations;
  • Supports the administration of Microsoft SQL databases;
  • Develops and implements security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats;
  • Applies STIGs to IT systems and documents results. Reviews STIG checklists developed by others for accuracy and completeness;
  • Develops RMF security policy and procedures documents;
  • Proven experience with a deep understanding of VMware virtualization technologies (vSphere, ESXi);
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware, storage, and networking concepts in virtual environments;
  • Designs and implements Vmware virtual infrastructure solutions, including scalability and high availability considerations;
  • Stands up ESXi hosts, various versions, AD integrations, time, and DNS services;
  • Administers Microsoft Active Directory (create user accounts, manage groups/permissions/access);
  • Administers Microsoft databases (log shipping, event management, cluster management).
Qualifications
  • LEVEL IV: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with eight (8) to (10) years’ experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with six (6) to (8) years’ experience years of experience; OR PhD with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience;
  • Must have a current DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level III certification (i.e., CASP CE, CISA, CISSP) at start;
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with SCI eligibility at start;
  • VMware certifications (such as VCP, VCAP, VCIX) are highly desirable;
  • MCSE certification or other Microsoft certifications are highly desirable;
  • Cisco certifications are highly desirable;
  • Experience with system administration and network administration is required;
  • Experience with Linux is desirable;
  • Proficiency in PowerShell and other scripting languages is highly desirable; 
  • Knowledge of network and host hardening;
  • Knowledge of Splunk is desirable;
  • Knowledge of Trellix and Tenable security and vulnerability products are desirable.
