Overview
GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Quality Engineer in Huntsville, AL, who will provide support to the Indirect Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) Programs. The ideal candidate will support quality control processes throughout product lifecycle, implement best practices, and ensure that products meet both industry standards and customer expectations. The Quality Assurance Team supports DoD contracts delivering products and services for the full lifecycle air and missile systems, including requirements definition, prototyping, design, integration, test and evaluation and transition into production.
Responsibilities
- Conducts acquisition planning and development by reviewing current and proposed contract language to ensure quality management is addressed. Evaluates and ensures contractors follow accepted quality standards (ISO 9000, AS9100, and CMMI);
- Ensures Quality of Design by participating in all Preliminary/Critical Design Reviews and provides guidance to the contractor to fix any noted shortcomings;
- Performs inspections and reviews functional tests data/documentation for product/system acceptance;
- Makes recommendations to the customer to accept or reject hardware of a suppliers’ level of effort;
- Provides independent assessment of supplier actions/documentation;
- Provides Quality oversight activities ensuring compliance with customer requirements of supplier systems/procedures/processes;
- Keeps PM informed of technical status of assigned tasks, program status, significant program events, controversial issues, program reviews, and other relevant issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related science is required;
- At least five (5) years of industry accepted Quality Engineering experience is required;
- Active DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance is required at start. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain SCI eligibility;
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 and other quality management systems (QMS) and standards within the hardware manufacturing industry such as: ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 27000, ISO 31000, and ITIL is required;
- Certifications in ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 27001 for information security, and/or ISO 14001 for environmental compliance in defense programs is preferred;
- Familiarity with development and manufacturing processes, hardware testing methods, tools for product inspection, and review of objective evidence of conformance is required;
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in data-driven decision-making and root cause analysis to meet quality guidelines through assessment is required;
- Must be able to travel at least 25%.
