Overview
GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Systems Engineer in Landover, MD. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for systems administration support, engineering support, integration, test, and deployment activities for the Security Engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Engineers, installs, maintains, configures, and optimizes Microsoft server operating systems;
- Provisions and manages virtual machines and environments;
- Manages and configures VDI environments;
- Configures and maintains network services such as DNS and DHCP;
- Knowledge in creating, administering, and troubleshooting Group Policies (GPOs);
- Performs daily system monitoring; verifies the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes; reviews system and application logs; verifies completion of scheduled jobs such as backups;
- Works with internal and external IT teams to coordinate changes, implementations, and maintenances for network and security configurations;
- Supports the administration of Microsoft SQL databases;
- Develops and implements security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats;
- Applies STIGs to IT systems and document results;
- Reviews STIG checklists developed by others for accuracy and completeness;
- Develops RMF security policy and procedures documents.
Qualifications
- LEVEL II: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with two (2) to five (5) years experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with zero (0) to two (2) years experience years of experience; OR eight (8) to ten (10) years experience with no degree;
- LEVEL III: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with five (5) to eight (8) years experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with three (3) to five (5) years experience years of experience; OR a PdD with zero (0) to two (2) years experience;
- DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level III (i.e., CISSP GCIH,or GCIA) certification is required at start;
- Active DoD-issued Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required at start;
- Experience in Infrastructure/Datacenter engineering and integration for both physical and virtual infrastructure hosting one or more Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX, and/or AIX systems
- Experience with one or more engineering disciplines:
- Storage Engineering: multiple enterprise HPE Storage Area Networks (SAN)
- Network Engineering: Cisco network LAN/WAN, Software Defined Networking (SDN)
- Infrastructure/Cloud Engineering: VMware vCloud Enterprise Suite; hybrid cloud with multiple classified Government clouds
- Professional-level Linux, VMware, Network, Storage, or Cloud certifications are preferred;
- ITIL Foundations certification is preferred.
