Overview

GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of SharePoint Administration Engineer in Landover, MD to provide expertise support in SharePoint architecture, administration, and governance.  The SharePoint Administration Engineer will design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and user-friendly environments that enhance collaboration, streamline processes, and support organizational goals.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and maintains an organization's SharePoint environment, ensuring it functions effectively for collaboration and document management;
  • Collaborates with other IT teams, business users, other SharePoint users, and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide effective SharePoint solutions;
  • Configures, customizes, and troubleshoots the platform, and manages user permissions and develops workflows;
  • Ensures security, performance, and compliance within the SharePoint environment, including the latest updates, patches, and service packs;
  • Implements and maintains security best practices, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations, and monitoring for potential security threats;
  • Installs, configures, and maintains SharePoint servers, site collections, and other related components;
  • Assigns appropriate access rights and permissions to users and groups, ensuring data security and proper collaboration;
  • Diagnoses and resolves technical issues related to SharePoint functionality, performance, and user access;
  • Monitors SharePoint performance, identifies bottlenecks, and optimizes the system for optimal efficiency;
  • Creates, configures, and manages SharePoint sites, including team sites, communication sites, and hub sites;
  • Designs, develops, and maintains workflows to automate business processes and improve efficiency;
  • Oversees the organization and management of content within SharePoint, including libraries, lists, and workflows;
  • Implements and maintains backup and disaster recovery plans to protect SharePoint data and ensure business continuity.
Qualifications
  • LEVEL III: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience years of experience; OR PhD with zero (0) to two (2) years’ experience;
  • LEVEL IV: Bachelor's degree in a related field, with (8) to ten (10) years’ experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with six (6) to eight (8) years’ experience years of experience; OR PhD with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience;
  • Must have a current DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level III (i.e., CISSP GCIH,or GCIA) certification is required at start;
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with SCI eligibility at start;
  • Strong knowledge of SharePoint architecture, administration, and configuration, including both on-premises and cloud-based environments is required;
  • Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively is required;
  • Scripting: Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for SharePoint, IIS, SQL Server automation, XHTML, CSS, Net, Web Page, and JavaScript is required;
  • IIS: Strong experience with IIS configuration and troubleshooting, including handling SharePoint web applications, SSL certificates, and performance tuning is required;
  • User Support: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide technical support to users is required;
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements, encryption, and firewalls is required;
  • Workflow Development: Ability to design and implement workflows using SharePoint Designer or other tools is required;
  • Collaboration and Communication: Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders is required;
  • Microsoft 365 knowledge: Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and its integration with SharePoint is required;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory is required;
  • Databases: familiarity and understanding of Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019 always-on high availability clustering is required;
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals is strongly desired;
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert is strongly desired;
  • Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Server or equivalent legacy certificates MCITP, MCSE, MCSD, or MCSM certifications are strongly desired.
