Overview
GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Test Engineer in Huntsville, AL to provide support to the SHIELD T&E Director and Indirect Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) and Maneuver Short Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD). The Test Engineer will ensure integration with the product's success through rigorous test methods and technical expertise. The ideal candidate will support multidisciplinary Integrated Product Teams to develop solutions that support developmental, test, and operational goals. The Test Engineer in this position is expected to be self-motivated, possessing strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Develops comprehensive test plans that clearly define test objectives, scope, approach, success criteria, and exit conditions; Translates system requirements and stakeholder expectations into measurable, traceable test objectives that support program goals and regulatory or contractual requirements;
- Analyzes system, subsystem, and component requirements to derive detailed test requirement; Ensures full requirements traceability across the test lifecycle and validate that test coverage adequately addresses functional, performance, interface, and operational needs;
- Prepares, maintains, and reviews high‑quality test documentation, including test strategies, test plans, procedures, cases, scripts, and readiness review; Conducts peer and stakeholder reviews to ensure technical accuracy, clarity, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and processes;
- Identifies and plans required test resources, including personnel, facilities, tools, instrumentation, software, and test articles; Coordinates with engineering, program management, operations, and external stakeholders to ensure resources are available and aligned with test objectives and schedules;
- Develops and manages detailed test schedules, integrating dependencies, milestones, and risk consideration; Supports test execution activities, monitors progress against plan, and adjusts schedules as necessary to address issues, constraints, or changes in program priorities;
- Oversees and supports the collection of test data during execution, ensuring data integrity and traceability; Analyzes qualitative and quantitative test results to assess system performance, identify anomalies or deficiencies, and determine compliance with requirements;
- Prepares clear, concise, and technically accurate test reports, including Quick-Look reports, interim status updates, and final Test Reports; Summarizes results, findings, risks, and recommendations for both technical and non‑technical audiences, and briefs stakeholders on test outcomes and impacts;
- Presents test results and analyses to program leadership, customers, and technical teams; Effectively communicates test status, issues, and conclusions, supporting informed decision‑making and next‑step planning.
Qualifications
- BS or BA degree ABET accredited degree in an Engineering or science is required;
- Minimum of twenty (20) years’ experience with BS or eighteen (18)years’ experience with a MS is required;
- Seven (7) years T&E experience with Air and Missile Defense (AMD) systems such as PATRIOT, M-SHORAD, IFPC- Inc 2. is preferred;
- DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance is required at start;
- Experience supporting / leading missile flight test missions is required;
- Experience working on (applicable to ground and/or flight tests):
- Test plan designs
- Test resource requirements
- Test scenarios
- Performance analysis
- Production qualification testing
- Requirements testing
- Post-mission test analysis and reporting
- Working knowledge of the DoD Army Acquisition process & Test and Evaluation is required;
- Must be able to travel up to 35% is required.
